How to Sell Digital Art on the Tezos Blockchain: A Step-by-Step Guide with Everything You Need to Know to Get Started

Tezos is the perfect blockchain for NFTs (non-fungible tokens) and offers an incredible digital art community, along with multiple NFT art marketplaces to choose from.

👉 This tutorial is aimed at artists looking to sell their first digital artwork on the Tezos blockchain without the need to understand platform-specific jargon or intricacies.

Simply follow each step to get started hassle-free.

Preparations

Here are the four things you need:

1. Tezos Wallet Address
2. Tezos Coin
3. Tezos NFT Art Marketplace
4. Digital Artwork

1. Tezos Wallet Address

A digital wallet holds your Tezos coins (also called xtz or tez) and digital art (aka NFTs). The easiest way is to get a Tezos wallet address by using the free Kukai web wallet with social login.

Steps:

1. Go to wallet.kukai.app.
2. Log in with your Twitter, Google, Reddit or Facebook account.
3. Done. 🥳 You now own a Tezos wallet address. 👍

2. Tezos Coin

You'll need a fraction of a Tezos coin to pay for transactions fees. Good news: you can get it for free at the Teia.art Fountain. ⛲

Steps:

1. Open this form
2. Go to wallet.kukai.app and copy your Tezos address on the top right. It looks like this: tz2x55DBmYqBHXZNeSMNxZjXjvAsMaNjXtsY
3. Paste the address into the form and add your Discord username and Social Media Post Link
4. Done! 👍

3. Tezos NFT Art Marketplace

Here are the most popular NFT art marketplaces on Tezos where you can sell various forms of digital art:

• Objkt.com
• Teia.art
• Versum.xyz

For this tutorial, we will use the community-driven teia.art marketplace.

4. Digital Artwork

Create a digital artwork that you would like to sell or give away for free. It can be any of these types:

• Graphic
• Audio
• Video
• Interactive
• Text
• Animation

Teia.art supports the following file types: flac, gif, glb, directory, jpeg, md, mp3, mp4, pdf, png, svg, wav, webm, html (zip archive)

5. How To List Your Artwork On a Tezos NFT Art Marketplace

Listing an artwork on a blockchain is called minting.

Listing Steps:

1. Go to Teia.art
2. Click the Sync button on the top right.
3. Click Kukai Wallet.
4. Click Connect.
5. Go to teia.art/mint.

Submission Steps:

1. Enter a title.
2. Enter a short description (e.g., "Your Name, Year").
3. Enter a tag that describes your artwork (e.g., illustration, photography, 3D).
4. Set Editions to: 1.
5. Set Royalties to: 15%.
6. Upload your file (also called Objkt or Artifact).
7. Click Submit.
8. Check the preview.
9. Click Mint.
10. Open wallet.kukai.app and click Approve.
11. Done. 👍 Your artwork is on the Tezos blockchain now. 🙌

Note: It may take a few minutes for your listing to appear on your teia.art profile. Simply refresh the creations tab.

Pricing Steps:

Setting up a digital artwork for sale is called 'swapping'.

1. Go to Teia.art.
2. Select Assets from the menu on the top right.
3. Click the artwork.
4. Click Swap.
5. OBJKT quantity: 1.
6. Price per OBJKT: 1.
7. Click Swap.
8. Open wallet.kukai.app and click Approve.

Note: It may take a few minutes for your listing to show the updated pricing.
